Good Question! With taking an unpaid position to gain experience there is definitely pros and cons with doing so, I recommend you doing your research before accepting an unpaid position. After doing your research and finding out that this opportunity is a good fit or not, maybe looking into a possible part-time job or freelancing so you gain both exposure and getting paid.

If you find that the unpaid position will get you experience that you haven't been able to get elsewhere, I would say taking one would be beneficial. It is important to understand the position and make sure that it does align with the skill gaps that you're trying to fill. Nonprofits often times aren't able to pay interns, but still provide a valuable learning experience. Just make sure you do your research and understand what you'll be tasked with. Good luck!
