I'm about to start an internship with company that I'd really like to go to work for after I graduate. Do you have any advice about what I might do now or over the next year while I'm back in school before graduation to try and increase my chances of being hired there?  Are there some common mistakes that interns make at this stage?

Hello! The best thing you can do is be as actively engaged in your internship as possible. Ask lots of questions, learn everything you can. Jump right in and show them that you would make a great addition to their company. In most cases an internship is a way for you to interview the company while they are interviewing you over the course of several weeks. Good luck and enjoy your internship!

During your internship I would network, network, network as this is a great way to build your professional network but also build a team of those who support you.  Networks can really help introduce you to managers, leaders, HR professionals and many other employees at the company.  I would also recommend getting a mentor who can help you understand the organization and career opportunities.  It's important to remain very accountable as well since you're in essentially in the 'interview' stage for a full time role.  Lastly, I'd say stay authentic and bring 'you' to work everyday.  It's important to be yourself and see how you like the company culture and if it's still a place you can see yourself building a career.  Good luck!
