Do not expect them to lead to a job, and do not get aggressive with the person who networks with you regarding opportunities.
Think about this as information gathering, and then you do not have to feel too pushy or like you are being misleading.
The purpose of this meeting is to not only find out if they may have a job for you, but more importantly, to begin to develop your professional circles.
Keep in mind that they people you met with are likely quite busy and are not purposely avoiding you.
What should you expect from a networking event? Just about anything. I would worry less about the outcome of the event and more about the preparation for such an event.
You should be ready to pick up the bill though as that would be the proper etiquette for this type of situation.
I would not recommend going into a meeting like this and directly asking for a job up front
