I am a junior in college earning a degree in Mandarin Chinese. I would like to find an internship for this summer but I'm not sure what internships previous students with a degree similar to mine have had. Is there an internship that is relevant to my degree that anyone has come across before? Or recommendations on what a good internship for me might be?

You are definitely doing the right thing by focusing on getting an internship that is directly related to what your passion and education are targeting. Try using intern blogs, or websites entering in the search field - "internship" and "Mandarin", "Bi-lingual", this will get you started and may help build a network to start looking for a position.  Specifically regarding internships of other students that have similar interest, you may try, Glassdoor.com.  This site can list open positions as well as reviews from previous interns that may help you with your search.  Best of luck!

I think the answer to this question really depends on what your career goals are. What is it you want to do with your degree? I would recommend searching for an internship in the career path that most interests you. You could also network with other students in your area of study to gain insight on where they see their career paths going. In addition, I would recommend working with your career services office for advice and guidance. Career services offices typically have several connections with companies and could potentially help point you in the right direction or find an internship that matches your field of study. Good luck with your internship search!

It truly depends on what you want to do with a degree in Mandarin Chinese. If you are looking to be a translator and/or interpreter you need to target internships that will allow you to do that type of work either domestically or internationally.  If you want work in an international business type of role you need to pursue opportunities in that area.  I would suggest going onto a job board site like Indeed or Monster and searching for internships in these types of areas.  if you have a  specific company that you are interested in reach out to them directly and see what is available.
