I am at school at Bentley in Massachusetts, but I want to work in NJ. I have met with several people in the Massachusetts area but would also like to talk to people in the NJ area. Is LinkedIn the best way to reach out to recruiters? What should my message to them say? I'm still in school, so traveling to NJ would be a little difficult at the moment.

Linkediin is a great resource to connect wiith recruiters and let them know you are exploring your options in the New Jersey area.  It's a good idea to let them know you are fiinishiing your degree and are being proactiive in your job search so they are clear about your traveling limitations up front.  You should also include your resume for them review, the dates you are available to speak via the phone and a number that they can reach you.  There are also several other sites that may be useful, one isi wehireameriica.jobs this site gives you the opportunity to put in a location and job position you are seeking and may help narrow down positions available in New Jersey.  Most company career sites also allow you to narrow down your search by location where that is an option.  Best of luck to you.

LinkedIn is a great tool to use for this type of networking.  I would also suggest getting involved with professional chapters in the area of your interest, reaching out and seeing what is possible with the local chamber of commerce and connecting with your academic counterparts in New Jersey.

It is great that you want a jump start on your career hunt. Yes to LinkedIn! When you reach out to the recruiters let them know you are targeting the NJ Area as your career start and can accommodate a phone or Skye interview but traveling to NJ at this point would be difficult. It’s best to be honest up front about the travel limitations you have. I would recommend looking at the company job sites for the roles your wish to be in and bring those job numbers into the initial conversation with the recruiters you are reaching out to on LinkedIn. They can help move you to the appropriate recruiter if it is not them.
Best of luck!

Relocating or returning home can be hard since Bentley is so close to Boston but it is definitely possible! LinkedIn is a great way to get in touch with recruiters who are not in the Boston area and a great aid in researching different companies. Another idea to aid your job search is to look into companies in the New York and New Jersey area that primarily focuses on placing people into jobs in a certain area. These types of companies could help you in searching for different companies in the New Jersey area that is hiring the type of position you are looking for. You could also search on job boards for jobs that are open in New Jersey. From that search, you should get a good picture of the types of jobs that are open in your area of interest and the types of companies that are hiring. Good luck with your job search, Jersey Strong!
