What is the best way for me to turn tasks and experiences into skills for a resume?

This is a great way to building a strong, versatile resume!  Take the task you are currently doing and break them down into versatile skills, communication (who, what, when, how), time management (planning, prioritizing, delegating), leadership, and any other skills you find that will be widely transferable. Once you have your task dissected into these skills, get specific; how many people did you lead, for what amount of time, what were the results of leading these individuals, and then put into concise bullet points under each position. You can then utilize the job description to look for specific skills and then take your list and be sure to include these on your resume and highlight and match them.   Again, this is a fantastic way to build an impressive, resume that matches an employers qualifications.   Good Luck!

This is a great question! The best way to really showcase your success of a skill is to provide some way to quantify it. For example, if you're wanting to showcase how well you take initiative, you might want to quantify it by providing a percentage. An example would be, "implemented a streamlined budgeting process and decreased overhead costs by 5%"

You absolutely want to highlight experiences appropriately on your resume. You want to review the position you are applying for and bring to life the skills that are transferable. It is important to note that you want to understand how the structure of the resume will go. If you plan to highlight skills separately and dive into more details under the experiences section or if you will not have a skills section and develop the content in the tasks of previous experiences.
If you add a skills section in your resume, incorporate a high level overview of what you can bring to the company. You want to be able to sum up the important must have skills the company is targeting that you obtain on your resume in a few words (i.e. contact negotiations, conflict management, campaign management, process implementation).
In the job responsibilities section is where you will develop on the skill you highlighted in the above (i.e. negotiated contacts for an average savings of XXX quarterly, implemented a social media campaign to promote high hiring needs for XX organization which reflected XXamountXX of hires).

Awesome Question! By turning your past experiences into skills, is a great way to formalize a strong, yet versatile resume! To start off one should do is highlight one’s past experiences that will correlate nicely with the position that one is applying for and make them transferable. Another way would be to add a skills section in to one’s resume and rank them. Overall, it would be best to utilize the job description for any specific skills and use those select skills and highlight them throughout one’s resume. By doing so one’s resume will be impressive and more likely attract that particular company.
