My company holiday party is coming up in a few weeks and I'm new to the company so I don't know what to expect... what are the do's and don't's of work parties?

Good morning,
I highly suggest asking co-workers what they usually do. Sometimes "teams" will throw money together and get their boss something all together. If not, you are always safe with getting your boss a gift card (maybe from Starbucks or their favorite restaurant). Happy Holidays!

I would agree with ADM, I think the best way to understand the do’s and don’ts at your company holiday party is through your colleagues. Your colleagues can offer their insights into what is expected of you in terms of gifts, alcohol consumption if there is any, and other types of ideas on how to act. If you are uncomfortable about asking an older colleague, I would suggest reaching out to other colleagues who are also new to the company and ask how they are going to act at the holiday party. Happy Holidays!

There is a reason that behavior at company holiday parties is the punch line of so many jokes!  You don't want to be that person, so don't get crazy.  You are still going to be working with these people day in and day out in the new year.  That seems pretty straight forward doesn't it?  I agree with other posters, ask someone you trust about last year's party.

There are so many ways to celebrate and having fun can be a great way to build relationships with the people you work with.  I hope you have a great time and Happy Holidays to you and yours!
