I have been teaching for 7 years and am looking to transition to the corporate world. I have taught general and special education social studies, math, and language arts. My master's degree is in social studies education and my undergraduate degree is in economics and political science. Prior to teaching, I worked as a research analyst with a federal agency and with a nonprofit. I would like to transition to the corporate world in corporate training, market research, or another field. I was wondering if the corporate recruiters welcome teaching experience and if the transition is feasible.

Great question! Depending on the industry you chose to focus, I don't believe you will have a problem at all. Teachers often transition over to the corporate world, with the addition of you education you should be able to find the position you desire. Take  your time to focus on your areas of interest and background to find the right fit for you. Good luck!

Hello,  Depending on what you'd want to focus on, teachers to transition well into the corporate sector.   When you're interviewing, highlight how you've come up with new ciriculiam and implemented in your classroom, how've you adjusted your styles for indiviudals students, etc.   Like Brandy stated, focus on the areas you want to support. Is there specific industries that are appealing?  Focus on what sector, do some homework and come prepared to sell your skills.  Best regards!

The transition is not only feasible but welcomed. Teachers are conduits of information, therefore sales would be an easy transition. Explaining to a customer a process a product would be a transfer of information. Also learning and development would also be an easy transition, teaching employees on process, products, policy’s would be an easy transfer of professional qualifications.

Absolutely welcome!  There is the obvious connection with corporate training and the combination of your teaching experience and previous research experience should fit great as well.  Research is only meaningful if you can effectively convey insights and ideas from it, not unlike teaching where the subject matter is only meaningful if the teacher can effectively get the student to grasp it.
