How many letters of recommendation should I submit for a job in law enforcement?

Usually on the application the agency will tell you how many references are required. If not, do one professional, one educational and one personal. They will contact you if additional information is needed.

I would recommend first trying to understand how many recommendations the application is requesting. In most cases, there should be clear instructions regarding the application process and what you are expected to submit. As with any job, the process and expectations for each department will likely vary. If there are no clear instructions regarding the number of recommendations, I would always safely assume 3 is sufficient. Good luck!

Hello! If they don’t specifically ask for a certain amount you can’t go wrong with 2-3 letters of recommendation. I would provide one from an immediate supervisor/manager from your two past employers along with a peer recommendation from someone you worked with on a daily basis. If this happens to be a first-time position perhaps a professor would suffice as well. This way it gives the potential employer a high-level managerial recommendation along with a reference on how you work with your peers. Hope this helps!
