Great question - I always encourage candidates to check out www.paysa.com
to research what salary targets best fits their experience, education level, and skill set. Specifically, www.salary.com
allows you to generate a free report based on location and years of experience. After gathering a couple of data points, you should have a general range for what makes sense for your background.
Also, if you are presented with an offer - even if it meets what you were seeking salary wise - don't be afraid to negotiate. It may feel uncomfortable doing so, but you never know until you ask. The worst thing that can happen is the hiring team says "no" but it may lead to other options (like extra vacation days, sign-on bonus or etc).
