Many people in today's workforce are looking to other states and cities for job opportunities and it is becoming less taboo. With that being said, always show on your cover letter, emails, LinkedIn profile, etc. that you are interested in relocating. Some recruiters might interpret your application as a mistake if not otherwise specified. It is also safe to not expect your travel expenses to be covered during the interview process. Typically, there is a moving package offered if given the position.
