Congrats on the internship! I don’t really know that there is an official acceptable amount of time to wait to ask about full time opportunities, but I do agree that if you have found this company to be a great fit, you should definitely plan to have the conversation. If you worked with a recruiter to get your internship, this is the perfect kind of question to reconnect with him/her about. Some companies will bring on interns with the goal of hiring them full time at the end, but not all. If you didn’t work with a recruiter, a great time to have this conversation with your supervisor would be during a performance review or mid-point check in. Personally, I think waiting until about halfway through your internship will allow for a more robust conversation about why you think you are a fit for the company and why the company is a fit for you. This kind of conversation a little later in your experience, one in which you have a great idea of what may be asked of you, what company culture looks like, and if it’s a fit for your career goals, will make for a conversation in which you’ll really be able to demonstrate that you’ve given it some thought based on actual experience!
