I just accepted an internship but realized I have a scheduled trip the first week of work. Is is ok to ask for time off since it was previously planned?

I would reach out to your new employer as soon as possible to let them know about this trip. It is typically OK to miss work for prior engagements. I would recommend saying that this trip slipped your mind during the interview and ask if there is any flexibility in your schedule; knowing that the first week is when you will learn a lot of material.  If it is a large burden to the company, they may ask you to reschedule the trip.
Best of luck!

You should reach out to your recruiter and/or new manager as quickly as possible to discuss options. Some positions require training that do not allow for any time off until training is complete, while other roles are a bit more flexible. It really depends on the type of position.

Normally, this is ok if you had a trip or engagement that was planned prior to you accepting the position.  However, you will want to make sure that you discuss this with your boss as soon as possible so that everything can be arranged and planned in enough time.
