What is your opinion of video resumes?

Great question. Video resumes are still anomoly and can make you stand out as a candidate.  Start with ensuring your background is not distracting and that you are dressed for successl.  You want to make sure that you have it edited to be very professional and that it is attention grabbing in the first 10 seconds.  Take the time and effort to make it specific to that company and the particular position you are applying, this will make it engaging and more likely for the recruiter to hang around and finish watching it. Lastly you want to be sure you send it in a formaat that is easy to open and not specific to a particular program that some may not have available to view. Best of luck in finding your true happiness job!

I think a video resume is great, and something we should start doing more, but you want to be careful with a video resume. It is important you are in a quiet space, with no distracting background noise. Definitely practice what you want to say and make sure that you speak clearly and professionally. Definitely wear something professional, no loud clothing! A video resume can be a great way to express your personality and drive for the position you seek to land. Practice makes perfect, so give it a shot and see what the results are! Good luck!

My opinion of video resumes is that it is one more tool in your belt that just might set you apart from the rest of the applicants.  Now here's the thing, many application systems are not set up to take that type of file or require that you submit a "paper" record to be parsed into a data collection system.  You have an opportunity to use a video resume in partnership with an established traditional resume.  Offer it to the recruiters you speak to, make it available in your professional social profile, send it out when you are networking.  Your creativity won't go unnoticed.  You also have an opportunity to use it to test the waters with possibly interested employers.  You will likely need to make more than one version to see what works!  Good luck, you're potentially ahead of the curve.
